He Was My Answered Prayer

It Began in Sandestin

Every great love story has a moment and ours happened on July 19, 2024, in the warm, golden light of Sandestin, Florida. Nestled inside Seagar’s Prime Steak and Seafood, one of the most celebrated restaurants on the Emerald Coast, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. I said yes without hesitation and thanked God for my answered prayer.

From that oceanside evening to the church altar, every detail of our journey felt divinely orchestrated. I had prayed for a man who would love God, lead with integrity, and make me laugh. When God answered, He answered fully.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4

Two Worlds, One Purpose

People always find it interesting when they learn what we do for a living. He is a police officer, a man who puts on a badge every day, steps toward danger when everyone else is stepping back, and serves his community with a quiet, unshakeable strength. I am a personal injury paralegal, someone who spends her days fighting for people on the hardest days of their lives, navigating the legal system so that justice isn’t just a concept but a reality.

On the surface, our worlds look different. His is a uniform, a radio, a shift that starts before sunrise. Mine is case files, demand letters, and advocating for clients who need someone in their corner. But at the heart of it, we are both called to the same thing: showing up for people. Protecting them. Fighting for them. That is not a coincidence, that is God’s fingerprint on our pairing.

There is something deeply beautiful about loving a man who understands sacrifice, who knows that service is not just a job but a calling. And there is something grounding about being with a woman who knows how to stand firm, think clearly under pressure, and never stop fighting for what’s right. We complement each other in ways that go far beyond personality; it runs through the very work God placed in our hands.

The Gown: A Dream in Reem Acra

I have dreamed about my wedding dress for as long as I can remember. For me, it was never just a gown, it was a statement of elegance, femininity, and faith. My two all-time favorite bridal designers have always been Romona Keveza and Reem Acra, and choosing between them was one of the most delicious dilemmas I’ve ever faced.

Romona Keveza captivated me with her structured, architectural silhouettes and that incomparable silk mikado fabric clean, sculpted, and utterly regal. But Reem Acra’s intricate beadwork, hand-embroidered bodices, and the way her gowns are constructed to make a woman feel like royalty ultimately won my heart.

I chose a vintage Reem Acra ball gown strapless, with a stunning beaded and embroidered bodice and a full, sweeping skirt that made me feel every bit the princess I’d imagined. Paired with a cathedral-length veil that floated behind me, I walked the aisle to Céline Dion’s “These Are The Special Times” and there was not a more perfect song in the world for that moment. It was everything.

The Ceremony: Traditional, Sacred & Beautiful

On September 27, 2025, I became a wife. We had a sacred, traditional ceremony rooted in faith held at my home church, Greater Mt. Olive M.B. Church. There is something profoundly beautiful about standing before God and your community and making a covenant. No trend, no venue, no aesthetic competes with the holiness of that moment.

He stood at that altar, and when our eyes met, every prayer, every patient moment, every “not yet” from God made perfect sense. Matthew 5:16 tells us to let our light shine that day, I felt lit from within.

Rooted in Faith, Both of Us

One of the things I treasure most about our union is that faith is not a weekend activity for either of us; it is the foundation we were both built on. He was raised in the Church of God in Christ, shaped by a tradition rich in worship, the Holy Spirit, and uncompromising reverence for God. I was raised Missionary Baptist, and to this day, when I am not at work, working out, or in the salon chair, I am in church Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and every special program in between.

My relationship with the Lord is not something I compartmentalize. It is woven into everything I do. The way I carry myself, the way I speak, the way I dress it is all an offering. I want my life to be a reflection of Him. That is not a rule I follow; it is a love I live.

So when two people who were both raised to fear God, honor His house, and walk on purpose come together, that is not just a love story. That is a testimony. Our families laid the groundwork. God did the rest.

To every woman who is still waiting, still praying, still trusting I see you. Your answered prayer is on the way. Hold on. Dress for it. Pray for it. And when he comes, walk toward him in your dream gown and don’t look back.

With love & gratitude,

Bea
