Prime Video Sets November 4 Premiere Date for Muhammad Ali Series The Greatest
Prime Video announced over the 4th of July weekend that The Greatest, its highly anticipated scripted series about the life of Muhammad Ali, will premiere November 4, 2026, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The announcement came during a special first-look presentation at Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans, moderated by ESPN and ABC News journalist Kelley Carter.
Creator, showrunner, and executive producer Ben Watkins joined cast members Jaalen Best, Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy on the Essence mainstage. Attendees received an exclusive first-look teaser during the event.
Best stars as Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali in the eight-episode series, which is described as an intimate exploration of Ali’s life as a boxing champion, humanitarian, and global icon. It is the first authorized scripted series about Ali’s life, with his widow Lonnie Ali serving as executive producer. The series will cover defining moments in Ali’s life and career both in and out of the ring. Watkins has said it will reveal details about Ali that have not appeared in prior documentaries.

The cast also includes Omari Hardwick as Ali’s father, Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr. Executive producers include Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Roc Nation, and PolyGram Entertainment, a Universal Music Group partner.
