Kerry Washington Is Giving Us Everything in Apple TV+’s Imperfect Women

If your watchlist has been feeling a little dry lately, Apple TV+ is about to fix that — and Kerry Washington is leading the charge.

The Emmy Award-winning actress, producer, and all-around icon is back in a major way with Imperfect Women, a psychological thriller that has all the makings of your next obsession. Think jaw-dropping twists, complicated friendships, buried secrets, and a cast so stacked it almost feels unfair.

The Power Behind the Project

Imperfect Women stars and is executive produced by two Emmy winners: Kerry Washington — beloved for ScandalLittle Fires Everywhere, and UnPrisoned — and Elisabeth Moss, the force behind The Handmaid’s Tale and Mad MenApple Together, these two aren’t just showing up to act; they’re shaping the entire creative vision of the series.

The Plot Will Have You Hooked

Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, Imperfect Women is a dark, emotionally charged mystery that slowly unravels the lives of three longtime friends after a devastating crime — centering on themes of guilt, betrayal, and the hidden fractures within seemingly unbreakable bonds.

Imperfect Women

Washington plays Eleanor, one of a trio of college friends whose world is upended when Nancy — played by Kate Mara — unexpectedly dies. Eleanor and Mary (Elisabeth Moss) are left searching for answers, and the deeper they dig, the more unsettling the truth becomes.

A Cast That Delivers

Beyond the three leading women, the ensemble includes Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ana Ortiz, and Wilson Bethel Apple — honestly, every single name on this list is a win.

Kerry’s Creative Touch

What makes Washington’s involvement extra special is how deeply she invested herself off-screen too. Elisabeth Moss has credited Washington for the decision to move production to Los Angeles — a choice that was both creatively exciting and meaningful in supporting local film crews, especially following the devastating LA fires of January 2025.

Washington described LA as a thrilling backdrop precisely because of the tension between its image of sunshine, beauty, and glamour and the dark secrets at the core of the story, according to  Numéro

When to Watch

Imperfect Women premieres on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, March 18, with two episodes dropping at once. New episodes will follow every Wednesday through April 29, rounding out the eight-episode run.

This is the kind of series you clear your Wednesday nights for. Kerry Washington continues to prove that everything she touches is worth your time — and The Refined Glow will definitely be tuning in.
